relation to the LDS Church?'

I probably relate the most to the LDS world in general, and feel that they
are the primary audience the Lord has foreordained me to reach, followed next by the Christian
world, and then by the New Age thinkers.
I was born and raised LDS. My Dad
was a bishop for several years then Stake President in Boulder Colorado for 10 years. I served a
mission in Japan, returned to BYU and taught in the Mission
Training Center for two years.
Then I had a roommate at BYU that gave me a book called "None
Dare Call it Conspiracy." I would not have believed the book except there was a signature
on the back saying "I wish all the people behind the iron curtain and in the free world would
read this great book." The name was Ezra
Taft Benson.
Here I was a Senior at BYU and I was being exposed for the first time in my life to the concept that
there is a secret combination that
seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries, and that it has its people
placed in key positions in government, media, education, business, and even churches, to promote a
world socialist government, which is Satan's plan being implemented on earth: promising that
"no one will be lost," but removing freedom in the process. After being awake to this, it
became very clear to me, and I could see evidence for it everywhere I turned.
I then wrote the book The Vision
of All, comparing the timeline of Book of Mormon history with our day and both of those
histories with an individual's spiritual progression through life. One of the major punch lines of
the book was that America was prone to sudden attack and overthrow of its government from the
inside. The book was very nearly published by the LDS flagship publishing house, Deseret
Book, but in the end was declined because the Church was trying to get into Communist countries,
and this book quoted Ezra Taft Benson some 100 times, including his warnings about the dangers of
Communism as the kingdom of Satan build on the earth.
Upon completing the book (which still, twelve years later, hasn't
been published in hard copy), I composed a summary article "The
Law and the Word of the Lord" which points out that all Mormons/Christians have a
responsibility not just toward the gospel, but also toward establishing and maintaining a free
government.
Next, I started the American
Study Group to study what the prophets, ancient and modern, have said about the constitution and
the threats to it, as President Benson admonished us to do in one of his general conference talks.
During this time, I was still a temple-recommend-holding Mormon. But to my chagrin, I found that my
greatest obstacle to teaching these things and promoting this understanding was the LDS Church
itself -- not its doctrine, for the doctrine was in support of these points, but the power
establishment, who began to threaten people who were involved, that they would have their temple
recommend taken away or even their membership. The LDS leadership should have been the greatest
support, but instead, they were the greatest impediment.
Following a very strong prompting of the Spirit, we disbanded American Study Group, but I continued
being invited various places to share things I had learned from my study of the scriptures. My main
theme was summarized in an essay, "Will
the Gentiles Also Look Beyond the Mark," in which I point out the many parallels
between the Jews anciently and the Mormons/Christians today. The Jews were looking for a government,
and rejected the gospel. The Mormons are focused on the gospel, but are neglecting their
responsibility toward establishing a government that will protect the freedom of all mankind. The
first shall be last, and the last, shall be first. The true ideal society will have both facets in
harmony -- the gospel and the government, like husband and wife.
Shortly after that, I was excommunicated
for "apostasy," and for three years laid low as I tried with all my heart to gain
rebaptism into the church, believing that this is what the Lord wanted of me. The lesson I learned
during that time was that new wine cannot be put back into old vessels that are about to burst.
My focus then began to be on being part of and nourishing the "remnant" who will redeem
Zion. I have retained that focus since that time. Not long after that was when I wrote "A
Mighty Change for a New World," which goes through the scriptures on the topic of the
baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost. I found that a great irony is that even though the LDS Church
is focusing on the gospel, with neglect to their role in establishing a government of God, that they
don't even understand the gospel, as most poignantly illustrated in their not grasping what it means
to be born of God.
The remnant will be composed of people who are rooted in God through a mighty change of heart, and
who can therefore trust their own relationship with God above any other relationship, including any
ecclesiastical leaders who might cross them and insist that they stop believing a certain way, or
stop teaching a certain truth. It was during this time also that I composed the book "Man
of Sin Revealed," which points out that the man of sin is anyone who we place before
God in our life (and for Mormons in general that happens to be the President of the Church).
That is why the slogan at greaterthings.com is "would that ALL
the Lord's people were prophets." The whole idea of "greater things" is that when we
internalize that which we have been given, then we are ready for more. It is unfortunate when the
culture built around religion hinders that growth rather than fostering it. The powers that be will
foster growth to a point -- until it challenges the status quo false traditions that have become
revered as cardinal truths, even though they are without solid foundation.
The program of "just follow the prophet" is a very low program, akin to "give us a
king." Individual responsibility is set aside. God grants us according to the desires of our
hearts, even when that collective desire is not for our highest good. By that, we learn and grow
from our choice by seeing the consequences thereof. The Mormons put the prophet on such a pedestal,
yet his teachings, though good, are so unenlightening and are only but a rehash of very common sense
principles. Great, but what next? When we try to move ahead, we get booted out.
Isaiah 28 is probably one of the most
pointed of prophecies that comments about this dichotomy.
Anyway, I have since learned so many things, and have been expanded by the experiences I've had,
some of which would make the hair curl if told to a mainstream member of the LDS church.
It has been a painful and arduous journey -- much more difficult than going with the mainstream
flow. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Seeking for the source, the fountain of truth, is so
much more invigorating.
I can hardly stand to show up at church because the doctrine taught is so shallow; and as an
excommunicated member, I am not allowed to participate and try an liven things up a little, to get
people moving forward in their understanding and obedience to true principles, to share what is dear
to my heart and would enrich many others as well. So my wife (still enrolled as a member, but
sharing most of my views) and I rarely go to church. We do yearn for fellowship among likeminded
people, and we do find that to a certain extent in this Sanpete valley because there are so many
others who have had experiences similar to ours. I'm hoping that by the time my toddler children
grow to school age that we will have an alternative Sunday school for them among my likeminded
friends, so we don't have to send them to LDS primary to be brainwashed: "follow the prophet,
follow the prophet, follow the prophet, don't go astray."
My main avenue for sharing what I've learned is the greaterthings.com website, commenced in February
of 1998. The site began with two main features: Chiasms/Parallels
and Word-Number studies.
These, I believe, are tools given us intentionally of the Lord whereby we can find greater things
even within the text of scripture that we have, truths hidden in plain sight without such tools.
Like a hidden picture, once you see the objects that have been hidden, they stand out readily. At
the site, I also feature the writings of a few
other people, and try to link to other sites I find meritorious. I would estimate that the
website audience, which is receiving some 50,000 visitors a month now, is composed thusly:
- Mainstream, sleeping LDS: 5% (might find Book
of Mormon and Music pages fairly non threatening to their paradigm)
- Fringe LDS (Remnant LDS): 30%
- Former LDS (excommunicated or no longer attending): 25%
- Mainstream Christian: 5%
- Fringe Christian (Remnant Christian) 20%
- Non religious: 5%
- Non religious, but spiritually inclined (Remnant): 10%
The other sites I've developed are to supplement other facets of the cause, that are not directly
related to teaching or learning truth, but are more along the lines of implementation.
JosephPrep.com is my attempt to help
promote physical preparedness for difficult times ahead, pointing people to resources for emergency
preparedness supplies.
PatriotSaints.com is to facilitate the local
gatherings of likeminded people who love both freedom and the gospel.
RSICC.org (Remnant Saints
Inter-Continental Congress) is to establish an international freedom-based government alternative to
the socialist United Nations.
RemnantSaints.com is to help the
remnant survive, facilitating an alternative communications and utilities network.
ReliefMine.com features the late
John Koyle's so-called "Dream Mine" in Salem Utah, which is prophesied to come to the aid
of the remnant when the world economy collapses.
PatriotAlliance.org is to
facilitate the working together of patriot organizations worldwide; and is closely related in
mission to RSICC, but the latter is designed to be a representative body while the former is
designed to be more a comprehensive gathering of likeminded organizations.
Paul2004.com is to draft Congressman
Ron Paul as United States President in 2004, he being the most likely to rally a frontrunner status
among the various third parties and even dissatisfied Republicans and Democrats. He is the most
principled, articulate, tactful and awake individuals who elicits the most widespread respect among
the patriot saint types that I know of.
I created SterlingDAllan.com to
begin separating myself from greaterthings.com, which I hope to transform more into a directory of
all things "Greater Things," which certainly include far more than just the things I've
written and discovered.
JJWritings.com is a current web
project I initiated to establish a separate and comprehensive web site to house the writings of J J
Dewey, who I have come to respect as the most inspiring and accurate of teachers on the planet
today. At least for where I'm at and what I've learned, his writings ring true and relevant, and
more mind-expanding than anything I know of.
My main gripe in the past has been that he is too New Agey. I have come to realize, though, that he
garners the best from the wisdom of the East and the West -- which teachings also have a man-woman
like synergism intended, not an impossible conflict where one has to give way for the other.
Because those of the New Age background have been more apt to appreciate his writings in the past,
he has tended to gear to that audience, but he comes from an LDS background (excommunicated
in '79 for teaching that there can be progression from one kingdom to the next -- Telestial, to
Terrestrial, to Celestial). My intent, working with JJ, is to have his site be more of a
"middle way" site, whereas at present, the site
that currently features his writings leans too far in the New Age direction, with all its woo woo
deceptions -- which are really no worse than some of the orthodox Mormon/Christian extremes in the
Western religious approach, that exercise unrighteous control by one person upon another.
The other websites I operate are more of an "employee" type of relationship where I
am using my webmaster skills to help another person establish a web presence, but are not projects I
initiated per se. AllansTime.com is my dad's
website. He's doing some pretty earth-shaking science that currently is under non-disclosure, so
very little is actually on the website. CSADance.com
is the newest site I pulled together last week for my wife's dance instructor. Vapair.com
is a site I initiated to mirror a product that associates invented to extract and preserve pure
water from air. They already established a web presence: vapaire.com. VaporTechnologies.com
is a sister site to that one, featuring hypoallergenic vacuum cleaner-like tools. UtahHomeMortgageLenders.com
is still under development. It is a project I started a couple of weeks ago with my neighbor, who is
well experienced in the field.
The great irony in all this is that the reason I am where I am today is because I 'followed
the prophet,' as told to do in the Mormon church. During my BYU and Mission days, I sat
eagerly in every general conference and listened very carefully to the messages given. I remember
telling the missionaries at the MTC a week prior to Ezra Taft Benson becoming the prophet/president
that he would be known for his emphasis on the Book
of Mormon. And that certainly was the case. The Book of Mormon tells us to study Isaiah.
President Benson also very clearly admonished us to understand the Constitution and the threats to
it. Isaiah's message includes very stern writings about the Lord's people in the latter days,
the Mormons. Most of all, the scriptures teach us to each become prophets so we are not reliant upon
others, including the prophets. That will be the composition of the church
of the Firstborn, which is what will supersede Mormonism when the kingdom is taken from them and
restored to Israel -- the remnant.
So, that is where I'm coming from. Thanks for asking. I think I'll use my reply to you as a new
overview page for the greaterthings website.
