Remnant Saints Inter-Continental Congress
NEWSLETTER
Volume 1 Number 3
January 29, 2002
To: full rs_public list and former and current RSICC nominees
Three items: (1) New Honorary Member; (2) READING: Principled Approach to Law; (3) PENDING VOTE on
tithe of a tithe.
These items are likely to impact the organization profoundly, so your careful attention is
requested.
(1) SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT:
It gives me great pleasure to announce that at 11:11 pm Jan. 28, Joel Skousen officially signed on
as an honorary member of Remnant Saints Inter-Continental Congress. I almost feel like we prepared
this organization for him, and now it is his turn to jump in to a major directive role. We certainly
have much in common by way of vision for what needs to be done. However, I must say he is the more
prepared to actually set forth principles of sound government. I hope he feels completely free to
take this organization and run with it as much as he feels inclined. I anticipate that we will be
approving him as another 'facilitator' in a short time. I would make such a motion now, but I think
it would be best to have a month or so for him to get to know us and us to get to know him.
(2) READING: Principled Approach to Law
{Note: The following was composed prior to Joel joining}
I would like to recommend that you all read the document by Joel Skousen that I mentioned in the
press release on Sunday. Joel has allowed us to post it at
http://www.rsicc.org/Documents/JoelSkousen_Law/
You can also download a *.doc version of the treatise in Word from that page that will be easier to
print out.
I've not read it all the way through yet (I'm a slow, meticulous reader on something like this), but
of what I've read so far, I have found myself almost continually agreeing wholeheartedly. For me,
reading it has been like coming home. I'm guessing we may want to incorporate this document as one
of our core documents. So please read it with that in mind.
(3) Pending Vote on tithe of a tithe
Prior to bringing this 'tithe of a tithe' matter to a vote, I would like to be able to address any
points of opposition. I'm hoping for a unanimous consent on this one. So if you have any hesitations
or disagreements, please let them be known so we can try to appease them to your satisfaction.
Proposed vote:
All RSICC members shall commit to contributing AT LEAST a tithe of a tithe (1%) of their income or
time or talents, or any combination thereof, on behalf or RSICC. This minimal commitment to RSICC
shall be based on the individual's word or promise, and will not be subject to any form of
oversight.
This is the proposed ballot question. Any wording suggestions are welcomed as well.
Most of the dialogue on this question thus far is indexed at
http://www.rsicc.org/Discussion/Topics/Tithe/
Thanks
Sterling
